Lion's Breath

After 8 years of yoga practice and many attempts to create and sustain a daily meditation practice, I finally succeeded by perservering, unrelenting and bringing this intention to sit to full consciousness. In January 2009 (yes, last year), I read a daily list of things I wanted to experience in my life as well as a list of affirmations. The 'daily' part was the most difficult. In a life of 'busy-ness' with two teens and a little one, there was always an excuse on the tip of my thinking. For once the stubborn, hard headed approach I so unsuccessfully used in my life was truly of use. I had only misdirected all the doggedness in pursuit of things, degrees and egoic accolades.

In December of 2009 I started a 10 week meditation program. I was introduced to it through a long time friend and companion on the ever undulating landscape called life...awakening...growing up...returning.

What I experienced in the 10 week program (based on The Presence Process by Michael Brown, if interested) is what I would like to share with you. Of all the degrees and outside recognition I have sought and accomplished, nothing compares to the exponential benefits of a sustained practice.

Read on and consider this: Not one accomplishment, love, dollar, health benefit or house can be brought with you when you traverse across the great plain to the other side. Read on and ponder...then what can?

When I sit.....

When I sit still daily, I see the incredible beauty within. I feel my heart, I am aware of the inner landscape of my soul, my divine essence. Solitude and stillness. Inner gazing. A willingness to allow my inner to become my focus.

When I sit in my body while it moves through a yoga practice, I sit deep in my heart of stillness, though pumping energetically and 'degust' the flow of energy so alive and representative of the wave of life. Life rolls to the shore, it recedes back into its still deep ocean.

When I sit, my heart exposes its deepest hurts through tears. It presents to me in stillness any, all, every secret it possesses. When I sit, my heart grows. It releases back to the earth, the divine mother, toward highest evolution, every moment or experience that is stuck, barricaded or contracted. In stillness my heart heals itself.

When I sit, I am one with everything. There are no real differences. There are no separations. I see clearly. I see the beauty in you, in every tree, leaf, plant. I see the hope and faith of the divine everywhere. I see the world unfolding exactly as it should.

When I sit....
